Backside Apartment
When i was younger i met a cool older man in my apartment building. One day we bumped into eachother and saw we had something in common, we each had an armfull of records and immediately had a lot to talk about. I love metal and he loved jazz. We traided records and what he gave me was Thelonious Monk. I had never really listened to jazz before, but after i did i was hooked. He would come by the kitchen i worked at and drop off new jazz records and books every week. we did this for about 2 years. This painting makes me think of the great musical gift he gave me. This is a free form painting following the album “Underground”
Inspired by the Thelonious Monk album “Underground”
Acrylic on hand built and stretched canvas
